On this 7-day motorbike safari you will experience magnificent mountains, including Mount Kilimanjaro, scenic Lake Natron, plenty of wild life and the friendly welcoming people of Tanzania.
Total riding kilometers are 1560km.
Meet and greet from Karanga Adventure Tours staff from JRO airport, you will be taken to the Hotel for a refreshing, in the evening you will meet the bikes for personal adjustment and trial.In the evening we will take you to Arusha famous street for a dinner BBQ (vegetarian meals also available). On this evening we will give briefing for the next day activities. After dinner we will take you around for a drink if interested but if much tired we will return you to the lodge for a rest of the night.

Dirt road, gravels, rocky, sandy and forestry trails + about 8 Km of tarmac (300km - 8 hours ride)
After breakfast we will leave Arusha and diverge to a goat trail to the North up to Mount Meru forest where will have a stop for a nice view of Mount Meru and Arusha city. The ride will pass over gravels and newly tarmac roads which will take us near the Tanzanite Mining Shafts in Simanjiro District. Refueling at the small Maasai town shift before getting to a hidden gem Hot Oasis for a swim and lunch break.
This ride will give us a nice view of Kilimanjaro Mountain as we are rotating Mount Kilimanjaro anticlockwise. We will arrive at Lake Chala in the evening for dinner and a campfire while
enjoying cold drinks.

Dirt road, up and down hills + 6 Km of tarmac (120km - 5 hours)
After breakfast at Lake Chala, will have time for walking down the Lake and have a morning swim (option) where after that we leave the Lodge heading south to the Pare Mountains riding along curved easy dirt road. After a Lunch break stop is when we will take a dirt road to the Trans boundary Lake Jipe then leave the lake and start heading uphill’s to Pare Moun- tains with a nice view of the small towns/villages down hills. To the Motel we will be riding down hills along dirt roads with lots of sharp corners. This day it much of trial for the next day ride which is much of intense riding. The motel at Same has spec- tacular views of the South Pare Mountains and because of its location it is the ideal gateway to Mkomazi National Park, the South Pare Mountains and Shengena Forest.

Sandy, hilly trails and stony trails (190km - 7 hours)
After breakfast we explore through the range of the eastern Pare Mountains where we will ride down to the southern ranges and will be no tarmac roads at all. The trail goes through virgin savannah up and about to Lake Kalimawe which is surrounded by rice plantations and small villages. The ride continues adjacent to the area of Mkomazi National Park on the slopes.
After lunch break, we will start to explore the Usambara Mountains, small villages of Mnazi and Mlalo and palm forests. We are going to ride on the zigzag road up the Usambara Mountains at Mtae (Mambo village) over 2300m a.s.l, which offers unique views over the region. This is a big day of riding and all of us will be tired at the end of this adventure and we will surely deserve a cold beer and a rest.

Down hills zigzag, loose gravels and tarmac (240 km - 7 hours)
The Maasai Steppe Conservancy is located between the Tarangire National Park and the Simanjiro Plains, within the Northern Safari Circuit. Safaris in the Maasai Steppe provide a wonderfully varied experience for people wanting a combination of wildlife viewing, walking, and authentic, 'un-canned' cultural experiences with the Maasai.The Maasai Steppe is a vibrant and important ecological strong- hold for the wildlife and people of northern Tanzania. Nearly 92% of this critical ecosystem is desig- nated Maasai village lands where livestock husbandry represents the primary livelihood. Maintaining healthy rangelands is critical to both the Maasai people and the wildlife dependent on this arid envi- ronment.

Tarmac, hilly trails, loose gravels and sand (140km - 6 hours)
After breakfast we are going to leave the camp, riding on rift valley escarpment towards the Hadza community. This is a rocky and hilly road where it passes through different altitude and vegetation’s down to Magara village which is adjacent to Lake Manyara National park.
We will break for our packed lunch and afte we will leave the good view of the rift valley wall heading to Lake Eyasi to meet the Hadza community, hunters and gatherers in east and Southern Africa. We are going to hunt with them on their grounds. After hunt- ing with them, we will ride to the camp where cold drinks and food will be awaiting us.

Gravel trails, rocky, dust and sandy (150km 7 hours)
The trip will take you East along winding dirt trails away from the lush area surrounding the mountain and out into the savannah scenery of the Maasai plains. You will ride towards the wall of the Great Rift Valley at the base of which stands the mighty volcano Ol Donyo Lengai. The Ol Donyo Lengai is an active volcano which last erupted in the 1970’s.
It is revered by the Maasai as the home of ‘Ngai’, their GOD. It’s almost Perfect cone looms over an area of astonishing barren beauty. At the foot of the mountain there is an area of rocky desert. Here we find the cones of small extinct volcano, and Lake Natron, a huge soda lake, which stretches up to the Kenyan border. Flamingos come here to breed and in the late afternoon sun the colorful flamingo colonies make a spec- tacular sight, adding a dash of color against the shimmering water.

Good dirt trail, some sand and dust (240km - 7 hours)
This ride can be taken on hardcore route of Monduli or an easier route. We ride through rolling country with scrub and scattered thorn trees and we will see colorful Maasai herding their cows and goats. We may also see antelope and zebra, and if we are lucky perhaps a predator. We will ride on loose gravel and a little sand which is fun and later find a well maintained dirt road which leads us to Longido village where we meet tarmac and ride through tarmac to our destination of Arusha.
We might be escaping into few trails; this will depend on time where we could reach Longido village. We will arrive Arusha early before evening where you will take shower and being transported to the Airport.

I had an extra day to spare in Arusha after climbing Kilimanjaro and doing a safari, so I booked a solo one day rental with guide on a whim.
